Using Outlook as your primary email client can have several benefits. Not only your mailbox is more organized, but your communications are also far more secure than your regular email inbox. Regardless of what version of Outlook you prefer, there’s no denying that it is one of the best email management clients ever. We have already discussed how users can configure their Yahoo and Gmail accounts to work with Outlook inbox. And we’re sure that your emails are way more organized than in their default inbox. Therefore, in this article we will show you how to configure your Outlook inbox with Hotmail account.

Outlook Exchange

Configuring your Hotmail to this platform is extremely simple and is mostly done automatically by Outlook. You can do this with Outlook’s Auto-Setup method after entering your email address. Note: Manual Configuration with Hotmail account is not an option with Outlook Exchange.

  • Enter Your Name (Full name preferably)
  • Enter Email address for your Hotmail account (@Hotmail.com)
  • Enter your password for your email account. In case of two-step verification enter app password from your Microsoft account.

Outlook Connector

In case you’re using older versions of Outlook such as 2003, 2007 and 2010, you will have to download a special utility called Outlook Connector. Choose your version according to your system requirements and the version of Outlook you’ve installed (32-bit or 64-bit).

  • Launch Outlook client (2003 and 2007).
  • If you’re not prompted to add a new account, navigate to tools>account settings>Outlook Connector>Add New Account.
  • Launch Outlook 2010.
  • Go to file>info>Add Account>Manually configure server settings or additional server types>Other>Microsoft Outlook Hotmail Connector.

Enter the following details in the popup dialog box

Outlook Exchange Active Sync (For Outlook 2013 and 2016 Users)

IMAP Settings

([email protected], [email protected] or [email protected])

m.outlook.com

m.hotmail.com

Advanced Settings (Outgoing Server and Advanced Tab)

POP3 Settings

Presto, so now regardless of what version of Outlook you’re using, you can easily configure your Hotmail account with Outlook inbox. Please leave your comments in case any of you face any trouble with setting up Outlook.
