At the first glance, the Start menu in Windows 10 looks significantly different from Windows 7’s Start menu. It is because, with default settings, the Start menu in Windows 10 is wider than the previous generation Start menu (you can make it smaller), and also, the app tiles on the right-side of the Start menu make it look different.
In Windows 7 and previous Windows versions, we could easily add or remove the Run command to the Start menu or taskbar for quick access. Although most users prefer launching the Run command box using Windows logo key and R keyboard shortcut, tablet users as well as users who navigate Windows using mouse might want to pin Run command to the Start screen or taskbar for the quick access.
While Windows 10’s Start menu allows you pin various items including the Run command and Control Panel to the Start menu, the procedure to add new items to the Start menu or taskbar is different and easier than the procedure in Windows 7.
NOTE: When you add Run command to the Start menu, it appears as a tile on the right-side of the Start menu, and there is no way out there to add it to the left-side of the Start menu.
Pin Run command to Windows 10’s Start menu and Taskbar
To add Run command to the Start menu and taskbar in Windows 10, complete the given below steps.
Step 1: In the Start menu or taskbar search box, type Run to see Run in the search results.
Step 2: Right-click on the Run in the search results and then click Pin to Start to pin Run command tile to the Start menu. And, if you want to pin it to the taskbar, please click Pin to taskbar option. As simple as that!
As mentioned before, it’s not possible to add Run shortcut to the left-side of the Start menu. The newly added item will appear on the right-side of the Start menu. You can move the newly added Run tile to the top of the Start menu for your convenience.
As you can see in the picture below, you can add the Run command box to the taskbar as well.
