The only thing stopping your robotic vacuum butler from taking over the house is the tether that straps it to the power grid, its battery. In tech, these days, battery life is extremely important. Many a device’s popularity lives and dies by how long the batteries last. It would stand to reason that you don’t want to need your vacuum only for it to run out of juice in the middle of a job.

The average working uptime for the Eufy RoboVac 11S Vacuum Battery is about 100 minutes. The battery takes about 5 to 6 hours to charge from 0% to 100%. However, there is no battery indicator on the 11S. So, it will have to decide when it needs to charge itself.

Anker, the owner of Eufy, is known mainly for making portable power banks, so they know a thing or two about batteries, and keeping them working is right in their wheelhouse, but that doesn’t mean that problems can’t creep up now and then. You may have issues with your batteries or charging; try some of these fixes if that happens.

Extending the Life of Your RoboVac 11S Batteries

Though the RoboVac 11S comes with an awesome 2600 mAh Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery, the battery isn’t immortal and will need some help to stay alive for as long as possible. Some easy steps can be taken to help maintain the life of your Li-ion battery and RoboVac 11S vacuum cleaner. What you can do is:

  • Avoid extremely hot or cold temperaturesKeep the brushes clean and free of debrisRoutinely use the Eufy RoboVac 11S, and don’t let the battery completely drain

These simple, quick, and easy maintenance methods will get a lot of mileage out of a little work. The amount of life you will gain in your device is monumental in the work it takes to do these. Keep reading how to do each thing to prolong the Eufy RoboVac 11S’s life.

Keep the RoboVac 11S Away from Extreme Temperatures

Both extreme cold and extreme heat have negative effects on battery life. Colder temperatures can reduce the overall capacity of a battery. This will cause your RoboVac 11S to have to recharge more often. Hotter temperatures have been shown to degrade batteries over different charge cycles.

You should keep your RoboVac 11S away from extreme temperatures as much as possible. Moderate temperatures are best for all electronics, especially those that run on batteries.

Keep the Vacuum’s Brushes Clean

The dirtier the brushes are on your RoboVac 11S, the harder the vacuum has to work. The harder the vacuum has to work, the quicker your batteries will discharge. If you keep your brushes clean, the vacuum will run more efficiently, and your batteries will last longer.

Another thing to remember is that if you have more carpet than hard floors, your vacuum will use more power and thus have less battery life. Carpet requires more suction than hard flooring and uses more battery power. If your house has mostly carpeting and you notice a lower battery uptime, that could be your issue.

Constantly Using Your RoboVac 11S

It may seem counterintuitive but using your RoboVac 11S more often is good for it and its rechargeable battery. Letting the battery sit at a full charge or fully discharged for long periods is not great for lithium-ion rechargeable batteries. Over long periods, the fully charged and fully discharged states put stress on the batteries.

Cleaning at night is always an excellent option to ensure you regularly use the machine.

Troubleshooting RoboVac 11S Not Charging

If you find that you are having trouble with your RoboVac 11S not charging, there are a few things you can do to troubleshoot the problem. Most of them are pretty standard and easy. The problem can be as simple as dirty charging pins, a bad power adapter or power plug, a dead or defective battery, or a damaged charging base station.

Cleaning the Charging Contacts

Since your robot’s main job is cleaning dirty floors, it stands to reason that, eventually, the metal charging contacts on the bottom of the vacuum could become dirty. It is really simple to clean them.

  • Get either a toothbrush or microfiber towel (mainly something that won’t leave behind bits of debris like a paper towel or something fuzzy)Get some rubbing alcoholWipe away any dirt and clean with the alcohol from the contacts on the bottom of the vacuum itself and the contacts on the charging base station

Cycle the Power of the Charging Base

Sometimes a simple power cycle is needed to make electronics stay in line. Simply disconnect the power from the base station and wait for about 1 minute, then plug it back in. Also, turn the power on and off on the bottom of the vacuum itself.

Check the Power Cord and Base Station

Due to the vacuum moving around the base station constantly, the cords can get wrapped up constantly and damaged. Over time, this can lead to failure. Eufy does have the option to replace broken power adapters and base charging stations if a problem is found with the base station itself.

Also, try another power outlet to ensure the power outlet in your house that your base station is plugged into is working correctly.

Replace the Battery

If the base station seems to be working properly, the battery might be the culprit. If you open the bottom of your vacuum, you can remove the battery. Unplug the battery from the vacuum, leave it unplugged for 5 minutes, re-install it, and try to charge it again. If that doesn’t work, you may need to contact Eufy and order a replacement battery.

If All Else Fails…

If none of these troubleshooting fixes solve your problem, it might be time to contact Eufy support and see if they can help you. You might just have a bigger problem on your hands.

Conclusion

Under normal conditions, your RoboVac 11S should last well over an hour and a half on a single battery charge. The amount of carpet and temperature will affect battery life, but if you keep the device clean and maintain it well, the battery should last you for years.
