Xfinity Cable is the most popular cable service provider in the United States, with over 33 million customers, but sometimes their equipment doesn’t work all too well. What do you do when your remote stops working? How do you resync an Xfinity remote?

Pairing your Xfinity Remote after it has lost its connection will depend on which model of Xfinity Remote you own. Some are easily reset with a few button presses, and others require a few more steps.

The Xfinity Remote has a few different models; depending on which model you own, the instructions will differ. However, it is easy to differentiate the remotes from one another.

How Do I Resync My Xfinity Remote?

The Xfinity Remote connects to your Xfinity X1 or Flex Streaming Device. It allows the Xfinity Remote to control your television, so you don’t have to juggle so many remotes.

Most of the different Xfinity Remotes have fairly straightforward methods to resync your device. Some models are a bit more involved but nothing too difficult.

A few subtle ways, such as having a Setup button or not having a Setup button, allow you to differentiate which Xfinity Remote you have and which instructions to follow. You’ll be watching TV again in no time.

How to Identify Your Model of Xfinity Remote

The easiest way to identify your Xfinity Remote’s model number is by looking on the back panel or inside the remote’s battery compartment. The model number will be listed there.

The different models of Xfinity Remote are:

  • XR2XR5XR11 (Voice Remote)XR11 (Voice Remote without a Setup button)XR16

Once you determine which model you have, you can follow the instructions to resync that remote to your device from the list below.

If for some reason, your remote doesn’t have the label telling you the model number, most of the Xfinity Remotes can be resynced using the settings for the XR2, XR5, and XR11.

There are some reasons your Xfinity remote won’t be working correctly, so it will need to be resynced.

Only the XR11 without the Setup button and the XR16 differ. If any instructions don’t work for your model, try one of the other methods in case of updates or mislabeled model numbers.
