Google Chrome is a widely used browser, and as such, improvements are continuously rolled out to meet the dynamic needs of its users. To align with Windows 11 design, it was announced that there was a likelihood for it to get rounded corners.

  • Users can now locate Google Drive files when they open a new tab in Chrome. The feature will be on by default, but Workspace admins can disable it.The feature is still in its initial rolling out stage and will soon be available to everyone.

Now, Google has made yet another announcement that Google Drive files will surface when you click to open a new tab on its Chrome browser.

Towards improving efficiency

The goal is to make locating the Google Drive files easier by intelligently bringing suggestions on the New Tab. Users will see a card on the browser that brings in intelligent suggestions rather than the usual recent files. By doing this, users can save time and effort locating the file they need and grab it directly from the new interface.

Default settings

This new setting will be automatically enabled if your New Tab page is not yet customized. An IT admin who has set custom preferences for an organization will have to enable this setting.

The intelligent suggestions are not yet fully available, and Google is set to release on a gradual rollout basis. This means that it may take up to 15 days for the feature to be visible to all users, so if you do not see it, hold on, it is on its way. All Google accounts, Workspace clients, and G Suite Basic and Business will be able to take advantage of this feature.
