2. Check RAM with the Windows Memory Diagnostic
- Open Windows 10’s Type here to search box by pressing the Windows + S hotkey.
- Type the keyword memory in the search box.
- Next, click Windows Memory Diagnostic to open the window in the shot directly below.
- Select the Restart now option in the Windows Memory Diagnostic window.
- Restart Windows when prompted to do so after the scan.
3. Run a disk scan
- Open the Windows 10 search tool.
- Input cmd in the search box to find Command Prompt.
- Right-click the Command Prompt app in the search tool to select the Run as administrator option.
- Next, input this command into the Command Prompt: chkdsk C: /f /r /x
- Press the Enter key to initiate the chkdsk scan.
- Restart Windows after the chkdsk utility has finished scanning and repaired disk sectors.
4. Run a System File Checker scan
- Open an elevated Command Prompt as outlined for the first three steps of resolution three.
- Before running a system file scan, enter this Command Prompt command: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Press the Enter key to initiate the Deployment Image Servicing scan.
- Thereafter, input this System File Checker command: sfc /scannow
- Press Return to start the system file scan.
- Wait for the system file scan to finish.
- Restart your desktop or laptop if the SFC scan reports that Windows Resource Protection has repaired files.
5. Update Windows 10
- Click the magnifying glass taskbar button to open Windows 10’s search box.
- Type update in the search box that opens.
- Then click Check for updates to open the window shown directly below.
- Press the Check for updates button to download and install patch updates.
- If a Windows 10 feature update is available, click the Download and Install option for it.
6. Remove recently installed hardware
If you’ve recently installed new hardware for your PC, try uninstalling and removing that hardware from the desktop.

- Select the Show more system restore points option if you can (System Restore doesn’t always display that checkbox).
- Then choose a restore point that will roll Windows 10 back to a time that predates the Data_Bus_Error BSOD issue on your PC.
- Press the Next button to proceed.
- Click Finish to initiate the system restoration process.
Note: Rolling back Windows 10 will remove software installed after selected restore point dates. You can click Scan for affected programs on the System Restore window to see what programs a selected restore point deletes.
