If you’re planning to install the latest and greatest update from Microsoft, in this case the Windows 10 v1903 update, then this article might change your mind.

Windows 10 v1903 comes with a number of odd issues

It’s already a known thing that there are some issues with the update. Some of them are quite severe, others are less significant. But a particularly interesting and pretty big issue is that one’s computer will not start after the installation of the update.

Here’s what one user is saying:

For now, Microsoft hasn’t addressed the problem and there are no confirmed solutions. The only reaction in regards to this problem came from an Independent Consultant:

I have installed Windows 10 Feature Update 1903  and now my PC will not start after overnight shut down. I installed it yesterday and after a few hours of shutdown it would not re-start.  I removed the update feature from my PC and no problems.

Wait for Microsoft to fix the bugs before you upgrade

To avoid the same situation, we recommend to wait a bit until things stabilize and Microsoft sorts out all the issues with the May Update.

There seems to be some early adopter issues at this time with Windows 10 1903, if you can, I recommend you wait a bit until Windows 10 1903 matures with future cumulative updates.

Don’t forget to check out the hardware requirements just to be sure that your PC is compatible with the update.

In case that you have already bumped into this problem, there are a couple of thing that you could try:

  • Try solving it through Startup Repair.
  • Use sfc /scannow via Command Prompt.
  • Uninstall Windows 10 updates in Safe Mode.

We have to mention that these solutions are unconfirmed for v1903, but they had a good success rate in some previous versions of Windows 10. Optionally, you can block the update to make sure that you won’t have to deal with any problems at all.

If you encountered the same issue and managed to solve it, please leave your solution along with any other questions in the comments section below.
